There are two types of information you can include in media releases – news and commentary.

News would be anything your business has recently done – such as investing in a piece of technology, installing some machinery or making a charitable donation.

News would also be anything that has recently been done to your business – receiving an award, getting targeted by vandals, being hit by a natural disaster.

Commentary would involve your business offering an opinion or providing analysis.

That could include discussing how a new tax has affected your business or predicting how a proposed regulation might affect your industry.

Don’t forget to include your contact details at the end of the media release, in case the journalist wants to ask some follow-up questions. Also, make sure to include a short biography about the business, and maybe you as well.

Your media release should also be accompanied by at least one photo.
